For years, visitors have come to the Church of the Holy Trinity to enjoy the magnificent architecture and the impressive interior.
The Church of the Holy Trinity, often said to be the finest Nordic renaissance church, is a source of relaxation and spiritual energy.
King Christian IV had the church built between 1617 and 1628 in the newly-founded town.
Inside the glorious building, the nave is made up of a large hall with eighteen stellar vaults supported by twelve beautiful granite pillars. The altar and pulpit, which are carved from Belgian and Italian marble, depict Christ and the four evangelists. The baroque organ, which dates back to 1630, still has its original pipes in working order and is played at services and concerts. The striking canopy above the pulpit weighs almost a ton.
